Although reports will always capture data, there are additional pieces of information you can provide/set in the interactivity in order to enhance your reports.

Naming Pages

The page titles are included in your reports and are used to populate the headings of the Page / Module panel. By default, pages are named Page 0001, Page 0002, Page 0003 and so on. Giving the pages more appropriate titles will make it simpler to navigate through issue reports.

  • To begin, select Manage for your Issue followed by the Interactivity button.
  • Select the Pages palette and right click on a page for further options.
  • Select Page Properties.
  • Enter a name for your page (if you are viewing a double page spread, the properties will display for both pages in two columns).
  • Below shows the name for page 3 and page 4. The name for page 4 has been highlighted.

Naming Modules

As with the page names, interactive modules have

basic names by default, such as More Information or Survey 1, however, these don’t provide the person reading the report with much information.

Giving your modules descriptive titles is a great way to ensure that your reports read well. What you should be trying to achieve is a situation where the user reading the reports doesn’t need to check the issue to clarify what a module does.

  • Select Manage for your issue, followed by Interactivity
  • Select a module that you have added to your page followed by the Settings palette
  • Enter a name for your module in the Title field.

It’s also best practice not to give modules the same titles. For example, if all of your interactive modules were web links and you named them all ‘Link’, the report isn’t going to be particularly helpful – especially if there are several of them on the same page.

The result

The names of both pages and modules appear in the Page/Module panel, making this much clearer to understand.
