The settings of an interactive module, such as title and pop up border colour, can be configured in the Settings palette.
- To begin, select Manage for your Issue followed by Interactivity.
- Once an interactive module has been added to a page, make sure it is selected to activate the Settings palette on the right-hand side of the page.
This section allows you to set the following:
Enter a clear and concise name for your interactive module. This title will appear in the reporting for your issue.
A tootltip is hover text that displays when the reader hovers over the clickable area of a module. This can be used to help explain what clicking on the module will do. If this field is left blank, there will be no tooltip.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Parameters you can set to help gauge the success of your issue. A KPI is specified as a percentage. At the reporting stage, PageTiger performs a calculation against the unique views for the element that has a KPI attached. This then indicates whether this KPI is being met or not. The Important setting highlights the element in your issue report by placing a small exclamation mark next to it. This helps you review the most important aspects of your issue quickly and effortlessly. For more about marking elements as important, see this article.
This option can also be used in conjunction with additional settings in the Style applied to the publication to make the module mandatory. See this article to read more.
Position and size
These values relate the position and size of the clickable area, which is represented graphically by the blue regions when viewing the Interactivity tab. Typically, modules are placed manually in the Interactivity tab, however, these fields can prove helpful when fine-tuning the size and positioning of the clickable areas.
Link to Panel
Select the link icon, followed by a panel on your page to link the module to it. To unlink, select the interactive module, followed by the unlink icon.
Any module that features a pop-up box, such as a Survey or More Information box has additional settings to manage the appearance of the box.
Pop-up width and height
Specifies the width and height of the pop-up box in pixels. It is best practice to size the pop-up box to best fit its content. For example, if a more information box only contains two sentences, the height value should be reduced from 500 to around 200 (depending on the font size and formatting etc.). It is recommended that a pop-up box does not exceed a height of 500 or a width of 1000; this allows your pop-ups to display nicely on devices with smaller screens.
Set the thickness and the colour of the border around the pop-up in pixels using the Border Size and Colour field. If no colour is set, the colour specified in the publication settings will be used as a default.
Set the amount of whitespace between the content of the pop-up and the border.
Set a background colour for the pop-up box.
It is possible that the content of a pop-up box requires more space than the width and height permit. So all of the content can be read, the pop-up box will automatically use scrollbars as needed.
Hide the cross in the top right corner to prevent readers closing the pop-up. In order to close the pop-up, you must offer readers a way to ‘complete’ the pop-up. The submit button in a competition module is an example of this. Read more about disable close.
Avoid using disable close if you are not certain about how readers will move on from the popup.
