Step 1: Open the interactivity of your design

Step 2: Select the Charting option from the interactivity palette - choose from an on-page chart or display with a pop-up

Step 3: Drag out the area for an on-page chart or the clickable hot spot for a pop-up

Step 4: Upload your spreadsheet – see example below:

Uploading works in the same way as a video resource; you can either upload the file to Resources Manager first or within the pop-up. If your spreadsheet contains multiple worksheets, you will have the option to choose the necessary sheet.

There is also a 'Data Resources Manager' option in Designer. This is where you can check and view the documents that have been uploaded when a Charting module has been used:

You can also upload your spreadsheet within Data Resources Manager. Please note - file types you can upload to be used within charting interactivity are xls and xlsx only.

Step 5: Personalise your chart using settings:

A number of options are also available to help customise the chart content:

  • Data Series as Rows (unticked by default)
  • First Column as Labels (ticked by default)
  • First Row as Labels (ticked by default)
  • X Axis Title
  • Y Axis Title
  • Caption

These are the same settings that can be found in various other spreadsheet applications, such as Excel, so should feel familiar.

Tip: Any chart settings will be controlled by the style applied to your document. However, it's possible for these settings to be overridden for an individual chart within the settings palette.
